"Simon Easterby fears stag-do revenge from his wedding day attendants if Ireland spoil Wales' Grand Slam party
SIMON EASTERBY, Ireland's man on the inside, has opened up on his special relationship with the Welsh squad ahead of their Six Nations showdown.
But the Llanelli Scarlets skipper insists his best mates will be the fiercest of rivals come 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon when friendships are put to one side under the flags of Ireland and Wales.
Easterby has spent six happy years at Stradey Park and last week committed himself for a further three after signing a new contract with the Welsh region. But life might not be as enjoyable if Wales go on to win a first Grand Slam since in 1978 with his colleagues at the Scarlets sure to make his life unbearable.
Yet if Ireland wins, the Irish flanker could find himself facing a more immediate threat having asked Wales outside-half Stephen Jones, along with brother Guy and former Wales full-back Matt Cardey, to be best man at his wedding in July.
'I must admit that I am a little concerned at what might happen to me during the stag do if we beat Wales at the weekend,' confessed Easterby.
'Stephen and I have been really good mates ever since I joined Llanelli but I'm not sure if that will stop him taking personal revenge for missing out on a Grand Slam.
'But all of them are under strict instructions from Sarra (the daughter of former Wales star Elgan Rees) that I'm to come back with my hair and eyebrows intact.'"
